This symmetrical and beautiful old maple was in the forest adjoining our property. It was always a pleasure to see because of it’s size and the visual balance it’s branches. This was taken on a gloomy, foggy day which gave an ominous feel to the photo. Two days later the tree had fallen. This was another occasion of having trees fall on a dead still day for no apparent reason. Very strange to have the silence of the forest broken by the tearing of roots, the breaking of branches and the final thud as the tree lands.
