Common Raven (Corvus corax) – 2008

Ravens are one of my favourite birds – intelligent, playful, vocal and resourceful.  This young raven was hanging around a rest stop in the Rocky Mountains looking for handouts.  He had obviously been doing it for a while and really knew how to ‘work the crowd’.  It was a great opportunity to have an up close experience.

    • Thanks Jo Ann. He was definitely strutting as only a raven can. I’ve had crows come that close but that is the first time a raven did – perhaps because he was young. It’s actually too bad that he learned this mooching trait – hopefully he became a little more cautious with age.
